Belt Conveyors
These are a style of conveyor that utilizes a flat belt running over a flat steel fabricated deck or over rollers. They are used where smooth and quiet transport of product is desirable, and are ideally suited to irregular shaped product that cannot be easily handled on other conveyor styles.
Examples of applications other than cartons, drums, or plastic bins would be the safe movement of flexible sacks or satchels, bags of power or flour, or even raw food products. This is also an excellent conveyor for handling items that may have loose strings or tapes attached that would otherwise get caught in other conveyor styles.
Belt conveyors give a smooth, safe solution for situations where you require a change in elevation – for example inter-floor situations or to receive or deliver products to a mezzanine floor or raised dock area.
They are also ideally suited to:-
- Metering of product – precise positioning
- Scanning – in conjunction with code readers or label application.
- Tracking – where precise positional control is required for sorting purposes.
- Induction – For precise feeding into other conveyors a merge points or junctions
- Positive transport – or positional control in all situations where it is desirable to know where a particular product is within a dynamic system.
- Accumulation – Where non-contact product buffering or indexing is required.
- Weighing – in check weigh applications
Options:
- Belt over roller styles – suited to very long runs or for very heavy loads where friction forces may become excessive.
- Sanitary applications – suited to handling foodstuffs or pharmaceuticals and in wash down situations.
